In our everyday thoughts, miracles often seem to be beyond our reach, as if they were blessings destined only for a few privileged ones. Sometimes, we even feel unworthy of receiving them. But what do we really understand by miracles in today’s society?
A miracle is defined as an extraordinary event that defies natural laws and is attributed to divine, supernatural, or spiritual intervention. Generally, they are perceived as manifestations of a higher power or as signs of the presence of the sacred in the world. These surprising and impactful events are often considered responses to faith, devotion, or prayer, and can manifest as inexplicable healings, interventions in natural events, or divine visions, among other extraordinary phenomena. The interpretation and belief in miracles may vary according to different religious and cultural traditions.
From this perspective, an important revelation arises: before modern society plunged into what we now call «development,» people were familiar with miracles. Through shamanism, they lived in communion with the divine, recognizing the sacred essence of life and their own divinity. This leads us to understand that our natural ability to create miracles lies dormant within us, and that only mental limitation and disconnection from the divine separate us from it.
Contemporary science, finally, begins to validate the spiritual idea that the mind has a transcendental power. If the mind believes in something, it can make it real. This phenomenon is closely linked to faith, a concept rooted in human experience that can acquire multiple meanings depending on religious, spiritual, or personal context. Faith implies trusting in something that transcends sensory perception or reason, whether it be a divine force, a spiritual truth, or a personal conviction. It offers comfort, strength, and direction in times of adversity, providing hope and optimism even in the most challenging circumstances.
My journey to understanding miracles began with my own story. Since childhood, lupus has been my life companion, causing disorders in my physical and emotional body. After arduous years and 6 frustrated attempts to conceive, I decided to abandon all hope of having my own biological child. However, my spiritual connection with the divine was never compromised. Although in my childhood I directed my devotion to a loving but external god, over time, I learned to recognize my own inner divinity. My practice of Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism taught me that true transformation lies in my own Buddhahood, in my inherent ability to create miracles.
So, in 2003, unexpectedly, I became pregnant again and I was determined that my baby would be born. During the eight months of gestation, I only experienced three moments of doubt, facing obstacles that threatened my baby’s life. But, through unwavering faith in my own creative power and the practice of Reiki, my son was born healthy and strong. Years later, I faced the diagnosis of cervical cancer. But once again, I chose to trust in my ability to create miracles. For a year, I prayed five hours a day, affirming with conviction that my body was free of cancer cells. After another 2 years of check-ups accompanied by 3 hours of prayer per day, I received medical clearance.
My personal experiences are just a testimony to the magic that resides in each one of us. I have witnessed countless miracles in the lives of other people, whom I accompanied in their processes of rebirth or as a doula of death: from witnessing mothers who seemed incapable of conceiving, to the recovery from devastating addictions, and the restoration of life to love and compassion shortly before transcending the physical body.
So I invite you to believe in the possibility of being the architect of your own miracles and to completely transform your life. Although you may harbor doubts, remember that the power to achieve has always been within you and that the connection with the spiritual world belongs to you. Allow yourself to embrace your complete being, honor your divinity, and discover your creative power.
May the light of wisdom guide every step of your path.
